Severstal Cherepovets

Severstal Cherepovets is a professional ice hockey team based in Cherepovets, in Russia’s Vologda Oblast, competing in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Founded in 1955, the club developed alongside the city’s major steel industry, with its name reflecting its long-standing connection to steelmaker Severstal. The team plays its home games at the Ice Palace in Cherepovets and is known for its yellow, black, and white colours. Although Severstal has yet to win the Gagarin Cup, it has established itself as a regular playoff contender and has produced competitive teams despite operating with more limited resources than some KHL giants. The club remains an important part of the local sporting identity and has a loyal following among hockey fans in northwestern Russia.
