Lokomotiv Yaroslavl

Lokomotiv Yaroslavl is a professional ice hockey team based in Yaroslavl, Russia, competing in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Founded in 1959, the club has established itself as one of the major teams in Russian hockey, winning multiple national league championships. The team plays its home games at Arena 2000, a modern venue that serves as the centre of hockey in Yaroslavl. Lokomotiv is known for its red, green, and white colours, as well as its railway-inspired name, which reflects the city’s historical connection to rail transport. In 2011, the club suffered a tragic plane crash that claimed the lives of nearly the entire team, and its subsequent rebuilding became a defining chapter in its history.
